In the holy village of Wutaishan in the Shanxi province, walking towards an unusual soundsource: a Shanxi Opera stage, bustling with acrobatics, vaudeville-like intrigue, and an unnerving type of singing, wich may seem like screeching to unacustomed ears. Having close ties with world renowned Beijing Opera, it bears this small difference in that men and women both can be part of troupes and play leading roles.
